Collage Workshop for Belmar Stories Participants

Belmar, NJ, June 22, 2009 - The Belmar Arts Council is offering a collage workshop to help create "visual stories" for an upcoming summer art show at the Boatworks, 608 River Road, that reflects the show's theme of Belmar Stories: A Show of Visual and Performing Arts.

To help create your visual stories, Michelle Bernard, an artist and graphic designer for Ranger Industries, will teach the collage visual arts workshop at the Boatworks on Tuesday July 7th from 7-9:00 pm. Ms. Bernard will demonstrate how to create a finished 2- or 3-dimensional art piece from the collection of photos, mementos, ephemera and souvenirs that each participant brings to the workshop. To allow you to preserve your originals, photocopy or scan your photos and memorabilia before the workshop. Workshop fee is $15, for ages 17 and up, and includes some materials and give-aways.

To register for the workshop, contact Brenda at 732-749-3360 by July 1st. Space is limited. Taking an artistic look at the history, experiences, anecdotes, memories, impressions and visions of Belmar though visual and performing arts media, the BAC welcomes entries of photography, poems, paintings, collages, music, video, and more for the show scheduled for August 8-29, 2009.

Delivery of submissions for the show is Saturday August 1st, at the Boatworks from 10 am to 1 pm. Cost to participate in the show is $10 members/$15 for non-members, and only one piece can be submitted per artist. More details about the Belmar Stories Show can be found online at belmararts.org. Entry forms will be available the day of intake. Dave and Sandy Taylor are coordinating the Belmar Stories Show and Open Mic reception, and if you have questions, please contact them at .

BAC's events are made possible in part by the Monmouth County Arts Council through funding from the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, through the County Historical Commission, and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State a Partner Agency of the National Endowment of the Arts.
