Belmar Arts Council Presents
Stained Glass at the Boatworks

Belmar NJ October 1, 2007 - This week's general membership meeting of the Belmar Arts Council will feature a presentation by stained glass artist Joe Gonzales. The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 4, from 7:30 to 9 pm. at the Boatworks, 608 River Road, Belmar.

Mr. Gonzales, who has studied watercolor and printmaking, says that a course in Lakewood fifteen years ago led him to the Tiffany-style construction methods he now uses in his projects. A professional framer, his years of cutting glass for frames attracted him to stained glass as a medium for his creative work. Mr. Gonzales stained glass ranges from traditional flat panels to more contemporary and abstract three-dimensional constructions. Attendees of last year's Monmouth Festival of the Arts may remember Mr. Gonzales' torsos, totem pole, and masks, examples of which he will share at the Boatworks this Thursday. Mr. Gonzales currently teaches a Tuesday evening stained glass course at Georgian Court University.

The Belmar Arts Council's membership meetings take place on the first Thursday of every month and are free to the public. Artists and non-artists alike are welcome. The BAC is funded through grants and fundraising activities. Tickets for the October 6 Beaux Eaux ("bozo") Ball, BAC's major fundraiser of the year, are still available.
