Belmar Arts Council Theme Show
Circular Café Table Top Art

Call For Entries

Belmar, NJ, May 5th, 2008 - The Belmar Arts Council (BAC) announces a call for submissions to an exhibition of circular art.

The third in a series of theme shows planned for summer 2008, this exhibition will showcase circular acrylic paintings, from which twelve will be applied to circular café table tops for the Boatworks' new cabaret space. The Boatworks at 608 River Road, Belmar, is the Art council's headquarters in the former Connolly Boatworks building. The wooden café table tops are two feet in diameter. The pre-stretched canvas has the circle drawn where the art must be created. The circular art will be trimmed, adhered directly to the wooden café table tops and sealed to protect the paintings.

Artists interested in submitting work for the tabletop art show and competition must pick up their pre-stretched canvas on May 31st at the Boatworks between 10 AM and 1 PM or by appointment during the following week.. (Call 732-280-0032 for an appointment.) The entry fee for this show is $25, which includes the cost of stretched canvas that will be provided to each artist who enters. The work will be on display from August 9th to 27th. Entries must be received on August 2nd, between 10 AM and 1 PM. The opening reception will be held on August 9th between 5 PM and 7 PM. The twelve winning circular acrylic art pieces will be determined that evening by a voting process. Voting will be done by the attendees of the show which is open to the public.

The entry fee for this show is $25, which includes the cost of a canvas that will be provided to each artist who enters. The works will be on display from August 9th to 27th. Entries will be received on August 2, with an opening reception scheduled for August 9th.

Dues, donations and grants fund the Belmar Arts Council's programs. BAC events are made possible in part by the Monmouth County Arts Council through funding from the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, through the County Historical Commission, and the New Jersey States Council on the Arts/Department of State a Partner Agency of the National Endowment of the Arts.
