Belmar Arts Council Presents: Water Color Painting Workshop Series for Teens
Belmar, NJ, May 13, 2008 - The Belmar Arts Council (BAC) presents a new Watercolor Painting workshop series just for teens, taught by local watercolorist and BAC member, Rose Reilly Leonard. Through this painting workshop series, and future workshops, BAC intends to offer continued opportunities for teens to become involved with the Belmar Arts Council and to participate in all disciplines in the arts.
Rose Reilly Leonard is an exhibiting artist with many years experience teaching watercolor to adults and children, and enjoys sharing her joy of art with her students. She teaches locally at various locations as well as at her home studio.
Beginning on May 22, the series of four watercolor painting sessions will be held after school hours at the BAC building, the Boatworks, on Thursdays from 4-6:00 pm with the following dates of: May 22, May 29, June 5, and June 12. Each weekly two-hour class will cover the process and techniques of watercolor painting for beginners and intermediates. Students will sketch from photos using a grid, learn the application of watercolor washes, learn to mix colors, and use a palette. Techniques such as blending and softening edges, and creating depth through value, perspective and composition will be offered. The end result will be completed frame-worthy paintings!
Watercolor supplies will be included in the class fee of $10 per session, or $35 for all four classes. Registrations for the entire workshop series, or for one or more of the classes, can be made by email to Workshops@belmararts.org or by calling the BAC office at 732-749-3360. The BAP program intends to inspire, encourage and support opportunities in the arts specifically for teens, and build teen participation and involvement in all of the arts.
