Belmar Arts Council Presents: Music - Teen Workshop Series
Belmar, NJ, June 25, 2008 - Interested in an open mic where you can share your compositions, listen to your peers and get the chance to collaborate with other musicians your age in a friendly environment? Then come join the Music - Teen Workshop series at the Belmar Arts Council (BAC).
The Belmar Arts Council has announced a new music series for teens interested in the opportunity to grow as a musician in the company of their peers in a very relaxed and cool environment. The music series will be facilitated by Patrice Malone, BAC's new Administrative Assistant.
Ms. Malone is a theory/composition major at Westminster Choir College of Rider University. As a musician, she uses the process of collaboration with her peers as a way to inform and define new music. She hopes to share this process and provide an open form for musicians to compose and perform in an informal, upbeat venue.
Teens can choose to bring in their own instruments and perform live or bring recordings for the group to hear. Beginners, intermediate and advance musicians are all welcome, but since this is specifically for teens, participants must be age 13 and older.
The Music - Teen Workshop Series will be located at the Belmar Arts Council Boatworks 608 River Rd. in Belmar beginning on Thursday July 10th, 4:30 to 6 PM and continuing through August 7th. A final evening performance will be planned as a culmination to the music series, watch the BAC calendar, www.belmararts.org for details.
For directions to the Boatworks and further information about other upcoming events, please visit the BAC website at www.BelmarArts.org.
