Belmar Arts Council Presents Reading by Poet Barbara Truncellito
Belmar, NJ, August 25th, 2008 -On Thursday, September 4th, the Belmar Arts Council will host poet and author Barbara Truncellito at the Boatworks, 608 River Road in Belmar, after the general member's meeting.
Ms. Truncellito will be reading and performing excerpts from "Affairs of the Heart", her "mini-book" from a series of anthologies called The Baker's Dozen. Her voice in her poems has best been described as compassionate about the sorrows of the dispossessed and that she calmly meditates on histories of family losses and loves. Ms. Truncellito attributes her mother, Sofina Truncellito, to having the most dramatic impact on her life and poetry.
Ms. Truncellito started her own publishing company, Fragile Twilight Press, in 1991. She used the company as a means to publish her first collection of poems. Her poetry collections include Beyond the Seventh Poinsettia, Moonflowers, and In Tribes of Running Rain.
Ms. Truncellito grew up in New Jersey and resides in both New York City and on Long Beach Island, NJ. A portion of all proceeds from Fragile Twilight Press is donated to the York Street Project (www.yorkstreetproject.org) in Jersey City, NJ, which she has dedicated herself to since 1991, to help women and children break the cycle of poverty.
