Belmar, NJ, May 20, 2009 - The Belmar Arts Council (BAC) announces a call for submissions to its first all-abstract art show, "Metaphors," running July 11^th to 31^st and benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Fund. The show is open to artists over the age of 17 who work in any medium, as long as the work is abstract. Each submission must be accompanied by a 3" x 5" card containing the artist's statement about the work. Entries will be received on Saturday, June 27^th from 10 am to 1 pm at The Boatworks, Belmar Arts Council's headquarters located at 608 River Road. The exhibition will be on view at the Boatworks Wednesdays through Sundays from 1-5 pm.

Artists should note that all artwork must be original and not previously exhibited in a BAC show. Two pieces per artist may be entered. One piece will be hung, and the second piece may be displayed if space permits, at the discretion of the BAC committee. All participating artists must take a turn tending the gallery during the show. All entries must be framed and wired for hanging and/or ready to be displayed at time of drop off. Three-dimensional art must have a pedestal on which to display the piece. The entry fee is $10 per piece for members and $15 for non-members. New members are always welcome. Sales of work are encouraged but not required.

The programs of the Belmar Arts Council are funded by dues, donations and grants.
