For immediate release: Digitalizing Your Works of ArtBelmar NJ November 10, 2007 - On Thursday, November 29, the Belmar Arts Council will present Digitalizing Your Works of Art. The hands-on workshop for artists will begin at 7:30 pm at the Boatworks, 608 River Road, Belmar. Since transporting original art is often cumbersome and expensive to both the artist and the gallery or show juror, many venues are requesting that artists email or send a disc with a digitalized image of their art as an introduction. This requires tools and technologies familiar to most experienced photographers, but new to many painters, sculptors and craftspeople. The unfamiliar processes and equipment may be so intimidating that some individuals may decline events they would previously have entered. Ignorance of digital techniques may also prevent artists from using the new tools to generate prints from original art for sales and exhibits. In this workshop, presenters Sandy Cook and Joe Villa will share their expertise with all of the wonderful photographic tools that are available to enhance photographs, correct errors, change moods and paint with the computer mouse. This workshop will provide straightforward instruction in:
The presenters will discuss the features of your digital camera and explain how to use the tools provided in free downloads as well as advanced photography programs, with time for open discussion, questions and answers. If possible, attendees should bring their cameras and their laptops (w/USB-camera cable.) For "hands on" exercises, please download Kodak-EasyShare if no simple free program is provided on the computer. The cost of the workshop is $10 for BAC members and $15 for non-members. Space is limited and pre-registration is required by November 27, 2007. For more information and directions to the BoatWorks please visit the BAC web site at www.belmararts.org. This program is made possible in part by the Monmouth County Arts Council through funding from the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, through the County Historical Commission, and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State a Partner Agency of the National Endowment of the Arts.
